These classes help to develop the skills required to pass the General Educational Development tests. Adults who have not finished high school may take advantage of this program.
It is never too late to learn the basics. South Suburban College's Adult Basic Education program helps men and women whose skill levels are below the eighth grade level.
Note: A student enrolling for the first time at a South Suburban College adult education center must have both documents listed below with them when registering:
Illinois residents are also required to satisfactorily pass an examination on American patriotism and the principles of representative government as found in the American Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, and the Constitution of the State of Illinois, as well as on the proper use and display of the American Flag. A Constitution Study Guide is available online from Southwestern Illinois College.
