South Suburban signs four recruits for 2009-10 Basketball Team.
SOUTH HOLLAND, IL The South Suburban College Lady Bulldogs' Kemi Rotibi was recently named NJCAA 2nd Team All-American. Rotibi was the #1 vote getter for District D, and was named 1st Team All-Region and 1st Team All-Tournament for the District D, Region-IV Tournament.
Rotibi, a Hillcrest High School graduate and Country Club Hills resident, averaged 13 points, 11.4 rebounds (15th nationally), and 4.6 blocks (2nd nationally) per game while shooting 65% from the field (5th nationally) during the 2008-09 season. Rotibi is the second Lady Bulldog in two years to be named to the All-American Team, following Shade Akinde of Rich Central High School.
SSC Women's Basketball program also announces the following signings for the 2009-10 season (Head Coach Darrel Scott's comments included):
Amber Hill, a 5'8" guard from Momence High School "Amber provides us with a big guard to compete with the top teams in the nation. She is a great shooter and defender. We will be able to extend our defense due to her athletic ability."
Chaniqua Brown, a 6'2" center from Gary Lew Wallace High School "Chan follows in the footsteps of dominating post players from SSC. She is an excellent shot blocker and runs the floor very well."
Kendra Roper, a 5'10" forward from Chicago Hyde Park High School "Kendra will make us a better overall team. She really gets after it. She is an athletic player who can play with the best of them."
Nikkia Brown, a 6'1" forward from Thornwood High School and Calumet College "Nikkia will provide the post scoring and toughness that we need in order to compete for the Region Championship. She is very mobile and defends very well."
The 2008-09 South Suburban College Women's Basketball Team finished with a 19-12 record.
