The primary mission of the Faculty Development Committee is to develop and support professional development programs for full-time and adjunct faculty. Our goal is to improve the quality of instruction and promote overall faculty excellence. This committee will work in tandem with the Outcomes Assessment and Academic Standards Committees to make faculty aware of the latest trends in classroom research, innovative teaching strategies, and technological advancements, all of which are intended for the improvement of student learning.
On October 12, 2009, SSC will have its Full Day of Faculty Development. The event will be held at the South Holland Community Center, from 8 am – 4 pm. This day will be geared towards the SSC faculty learning how to formalize the Outcomes Assessment that we all perform each semester. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Gloria Rogers, Ph.D. or ABET. Dr. Rogers has worked with Colleges and Universities all over the county, providing insight on how improve and formalize Assessment programs. (To learn more about Dr. Rogers and her assessment program, visit http://www.abet.org/assessment.shtml). This day will be filled with information, interactive activities and group collaboration. It will be a day of creativity, learning and development.
