Graduation Checklist

If you are completing the required coursework for your degree or certificate, you must apply for graduation.  Applications for Graduation are only available through the "MY SSC" portal.  If you do not complete and submit the Graduation Application, your degree/certificate may not be awarded. Commencement is an annual event approximately scheduled on the 3rd Sunday of May at 1:30 p.m. and is held in the Physical Fitness & Athletic Building on the Main Campus. A ticket is required for all guests attending the commencement ceremony, including children aged two and over. All guests should be seated no later than 1:15 pm.

The 84th Annual Commencement is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012, in the Physical Fitness and Athletic Center. All individuals who are planning to participate in the ceremony must purchase a cap and gown in the Campus Bookstore. (See schedule below)

A graduation packet will cost $25.00 for a cap, gown & tassel. Any packet purchased after April 27, 2012 will be subject to an additional $10.00 late fee. Graduation 2012 medallions are available as an option for an additional cost of $13.00 each. A packet of announcements is also available for $10.00. All sales are final, no exceptions. Please bring your graduation letter with you as verification.

As you purchase your cap & gown, you will be given 3 tickets for your guests to be admitted to the ceremony. NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT A TICKET. There will be an optional day for additional distribution of tickets on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012 in the Student Life and Leadership Office, room 2239.

There is not a rehearsal before the ceremony, please arrive no later than 12:30 p.m. on graduation day to receive instructions. Meet in the main building at the Registration area on the second floor. The Grand March of the SSC Board of Trustees, administrators, faculty and graduates will then proceed to the Physical Fitness and Athletic Center at approximately 1:30 p.m. The program is expected to run approximately one hour. Immediately following the ceremony, an informal reception for you, your family and friends will be held in the Atrium in the main building.

A professional photographer will be available for portraits before the ceremony on the second floor ramp area at 11:00 a.m. The photographer will also take photos during the ceremony as you receive your diploma. These optional photos will be offered to you at a nominal price.
