Overview
The Marilyn Casey Scholarship is administered by the Illinois Community College System Foundation and is designed to assist students who are pursuing a degree in a health-related field at an Illinois community college. The intent of the $2,000 award is to provide substantial assistance that can make a meaningful difference to a student who has financial need and thus, increase the chances of success for the student. The scholarship is to be awarded on the basis of $1,000 per semester, and the student is expected to achieve satisfactory academic progress for each semester enrolled. The student may receive the scholarship for two consecutive years/four semesters as long as he/she remains enrolled in the same program and maintains satisfactory academic progress as described above.
Eligibility
- Must be a resident of the state of Illinois.
- Must have demonstrated financial need including middle-income students.
- Must be in good academic standing as defined by a student possessing a cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
- Must submit a one-page typed narrative describing what or who inspired him or her to choose the field that they are currently enrolled in and what he or she envisions his or her future role as a caregiver to be.
